We are thrilled to report to you that another organization is recognizing what we here in New Smyrna Beach have known for years: We are an excellent destination spot for surfers!
According to the recent article I was reading, New Smyrna Beach was recently ranked by the outdoor and adventure-lifestyle magazine Outside as a Top Ten Spot to Hang Ten!
This is a wonderful accolade that everyone in our community should be proud of! Continue reading to learn more!
More Insight on This National Recognition for Being a Surfing Community
In his article for Outside Magazine, author and avid surfer Chris Dixon described how New Smyrna Beach really is a great place to surf.
He described the community’s historic Canal Street and Flagler Avenue, which created a pedestrian-friendly area with bars, restaurants, galleries and more.
He also described the empty 24 miles of beaches at the Canveral National Seashore nearby.
Meanwhile, he also applauded New Myrna and the Cape’s wide-open beaches, where the waters are warm and the beaches break on virtually any swell from the western Atlantic.
Dixon also complimented the community on the fact that we have a reputation for producing some excellent surfers.
We’ll Continue to Build Our Reputation as a Great Surfing Community
Dixon is not alone is recognizing New Smyrna Beach’s greatness in the surfing world. For instance, National Geographic named the city one of the Top 20 surf towns in the world in 2012.
And Travel Leisure Magazine named the community one of the world’s “15 Coolest Surf Towns” in 2014.
All of these magazines certainly can’t be wrong! This community really is an excellent place to surf and enjoy the beach!
More Than Just a Place to Surf, New Smyrna Beach is a Place to Live The Good Life
Of course, we do have much more to offer than our excellent waves.
New Smyrna Beach also offers prospective home buyers a great quality of life, friendly neighbors and a robust jobs market.
