The storm has passed and beautiful weather has finally returned to New Smyrna Beach. Fortunately, we seemed to have escaped the worst of the hurricane’s wrath—and we sincerely hope that our fellow New Smyrna Beach residents, visitors, and homeowners have fared equally as well! Those of you who feel up for a little relaxation and low-key celebration, we invite you to one of our favorite local events, Music Night at The HUB.
“Smooth, spontaneous, melodic music…”
Every second Saturday of the month, The HUB on Canal presents Music Night, featuring a new artist or musical talent each month. This Friday, October 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., head to The HUB to experience the beautiful jazz tones of the Armstrong Trio. Admission is free for HUB members or a $5 donation for non-members, and food is included.
Meet the Armstrong Trio
The Armstrong Trio features jazz standards and R&B/soul melodies spanning the last 40 years. It’s lead by Jarred Armstrong, a musician who has performed the National Anthem for both the Tampa Bay Rays and the Atlanta Falcons. He released his first album in high school, then attended Bethune-Cookman University on a saxophone scholarship. In addition to his National Anthem performances, Armstrong has lead his own band to many jazz events around the country, including the Tampa Black Heritage Festival and Clearwater Jazz Holiday, and has performed on Royal Caribbean’s “Oasis of the Seas”.

If you haven’t already been down to The HUB, it’s more than worth the visit! This outstanding arts center promotes local and developing young artists through a variety of community classes, workshops, programs, and events. It offers gallery space to working artists, whose mediums include paint, ceramics, photography, glass, jewelry, fiber arts, and sculpture. Additionally, The HUB offers musical events and art exhibits every month.
